Please read through the following sections before installing TrainingCalendar.
Installing Training Calendar
To run TrainingCalendar, you will need to have a Java(tm) Runtime Environment (JRE), version 1.3 or later, installed on your computer.
If your browser has Java(tm) enabled, the java runtime version will appear here:
Java(tm) software is licensed seperately by Sun Microsystems.
You can download the latest JRE version from
. www.java.com (Use your regular browser, do not try to download from TrainingCalendar's help window.)
For Windows, you can use the Java Runtime Installer included on the CD in the "For Windows" folder. The current version of JRE for Windows supports at least Windows XP, Windows 2000, and Windows '98 second edition.
For Macintosh OS-X, Java(tm) is included with the operating system. Installing TrainingCalendar
Once you have a Java Runtime installed, follow these instructions to install Training Calendar on your computer.
Windows There is an installer in the "For Windows" folder on the CD. This installer will place TrainingCalendar.exe in the "Program Files" folder on your hard drive and create shortcuts in the Start Menu and on the Desktop. If you have a previous version of TrainingCalendar installed, it is wise to use the Add/Remove Programs Control Panel to remove it before installing the new version.
OS-X The TrainingCalendar application can be found in the "For OS-X" folder on the CD. Drag this to your applications folder.
Other Systems All that is needed to install TrainingCalendar is to copy the file "TrainingCalendar.jar" from the Java folder to your hard drive. You can then run TrainingCalendar as you would another Java application. From a command line you probably type something like: java -jar TrainingCalendar.jar
When TrainingCalendar starts for the first time, you will be asked to read and agree to a software license.
TrainingCalendar will then present you with an opportunity to enter a registration code.
You may run TrainingCalendar in trial/evaluation mode by clicking the "Try" button.
Evaluation mode lets you use TrainingCalendar for a time before you decide to purchase a registration code. After the trial period expires, you will again be asked to enter a registration code.
Because the Beta version is pre-release software, it is restricted to evaluation mode. Then what...
When you are using TrainingCalendar, help is available from the menu or by pressing F1.
You might want to look at the "Getting Started" section for an introduction to using the application.
The example files included with TrainingCalendar may be useful to illustrate some of its features.
The file exampleCalendar.tgc can be copied as a template for your own calendar. It includes some elements that have been preselected to illustrate the features of TrainingCalendar. Uninstalling TrainingCalendar
Windows You can use Add or Remove Programs in the Control Panel to uninstall TrainingCalendar.
OS-X Simply drag the application package to the trash.
Other Systems Delete the file "TrainingCalendar.jar" from your hard drive.
